Tear into small pieces the basil leaves. Use extra to garnish, but hull, and half or quarter, the strawberries.
- 1 Thirty minutes to an hour before serving, combine the balsamic vinegar, sugar, pepper and basil in a bowl.
- 2 Add the strawberries and mix well.
- 3 Set aside at room temperature to marinate.
- 4 To serve, divide the strawberries among 4 small bowls.
- 5 Top each with a scoop of ice cream and some basil leaves to garnish.
