Deseed and finely chop the red chillis. Crush the garlic cloves. Thinly slice the stems of the purple sprouting broccoli. Tear the fresh basil.

- 1 Cook the spaghetti in boiling water for 10-12 minutes until al dente. Move on to the next step while you wait.
- 2 Cook the broccoli in boiling salted water for 4-5 minutes until tender. Move on to the next step while you wait.
- 3 Meanwhile, put the olive oil in a pan with the garlic and chilli and heat gently for 5 minutes.
- 4 Drain the pasta and broccoli, then return them both to one pan.
- 5 Stir through the garlic and chilli oil and the basil, then season with freshly ground black pepper.
- 6 Divide among serving plates and top with Parmesan shavings.
