Zest the oranges.


  1. 1 In a saucepan, combine the sugar, cornflour, 30ml water and orange juice, then heat gently until the mixture has thickened and is smooth.
  2. 2 Add the cherries and orange zest, bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. 3 Divide the vanilla ice cream among bowls and serve with the cherry sauce spooned on top.
