Grilled Mushrooms

Whether it be for breakfast with a poached egg, or to serve alongside steak, this is the best way to grill a whole, big, grown-up flat mushroom. And it's nice and easy too.

  1. 1 Turn the grill on to a medium heat.
  2. 2 Put the mushrooms on a baking tray, stems facing upwards.
  3. 3 Drizzle generously with the olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  4. 4 Grill slowly, at a fair distance from the heat, for 10-15 minutes, or until cooked. The mushrooms should be very dark in colour but still moist.
  5. 5 Leave to cool for a couple of minutes before serving.
